This is my 28th year in NC K-12 public education. I am currently serving as the BCS Middle School Career Development Coordinator to help students discover strengths, choose exploratory classes, and connect schoolwork to future goals through assessments, events, and community partnerships. My work centers on fostering collaboration, strengthening instructional practices, and using data-driven decision-making to improve student outcomes. I believe in meaningful professional learning and reflective practices are key in assisting students in creating their individual Career Development Plans (CDP).
I lead and support students as they move through Career Awareness, Career Exploration, Career Preparation, and Career Participation in grades 5th - 12th. This structured process helps them gradually build a deeper understanding of their talents, strengths, and interests. It also helps them understand the world of work and identify the postsecondary education needed for their chosen career paths. Through leadership, coaching, and collaboration, I strive to build supportive learning environments where students feel empowered to grow and explore their future opportunities. I am committed to continuous improvement and authentic relationships.
I have earned a Bachelor of Science from North Carolina Wesleyan College, a Master of Science from East Carolina University, and am currently studying for a School Administration Add-on Licensure at the University of North Carolina Wilmington.
The Career Development Plan (CDP) legislation requires that all middle and high school students in North Carolina’s public schools complete a career development plan that helps them explore their interests, align education with career goals, and prepare for postsecondary success.
