K-5 Science

Mystery Science

We've gone through all of our K-5 science lessons, collected the easiest ones to do from home, and put them on a single page to make things easier. This page and all the lessons are public and free. No signup or student login is needed.

Story Time from Space

This one is literally out of this world! Astronauts aboard the International Space Station read a collection of illustrated children's books and conduct science experiments. To make Story Time From Space even more useful for educators, cross-content curriculum is being designed to support the Next Generation Science Standards and Common Core.

Wonderopolis

Kids have a lot of questions and wonder so many things! This is a place "where the wonders of learning never cease". Built around a new Wonder of the Day, this site delivers interesting and educational content in the form of short videos and reading passages. With each Wonder, key vocabulary are identified and one can test their knowledge. Better yet, every Wonder includes extension activities to explore to learn more.

Hour of Code

It started as a one-hour introduction to computer science, designed to demystify "code", to show that anybody can learn the basics, and to broaden participation in the field of computer science. It has since become a worldwide effort to celebrate computer science, starting with 1-hour coding activities but expanding to all sorts of community efforts.

Highlights Kids

Parents need to know that Highlights Kids is the companion website to the classic children's magazine, Highlights, and features a nice blend of kid activities including games, recipes, crafts, and science projects.

Switch Zoo

It has 142 natural species in nine habitats. Build six of world's biomes by choosing the right plants, animal, temperature range, and precipitation for each. Get a postcard for each biome you build, and build all of them to become a Biome Master. Goes great with 4th grade science.
