Financial literacy is essential in meeting the financial challenge of the 21st Century. In this introductory finance course, students learn basic principles of economics and best practices for managing their own finances. Students learn core skills in creating budgets, developing long-term financial plans to meet their goals, and making responsible choices about income and expenses. Students will design personal and household budgets utilizing checking and savings accounts, gain knowledge in finance, debt and credit management, and evaluate and understand insurance and taxes. This course will provide a foundational understanding for making informed personal financial decisions leading to financial independence.
Students should come to class prepared with a writing utensil and any handouts pertinent to class and are encouraged to keep a notebook and folder. This class will utilize Google Classroom to turn in assignments and participate in class discussions.
