PBIS is a framework that supports the academic, social, emotional, and behavioral competence of all students.
PBIS involves explicitly (1) teaching, (2) modeling, (3) practicing, (4) reinforcing, and (5) re-teaching positive, expected social skills across settings and individuals. When students are taught to effectively use relevant, expected social skills for themselves and with others, school climates are described as more positive, learning environments are designated as safer, and student-educator relationships are referred to as more trusting and respectful.
Blue Earth Area Elementary and Middle School( K-7) began the process of cohort training through PBIS-MN (http://pbismn.org/) in 2011.
The sidebar menu contains the rubrics we have posted around the school for various areas and situations. We use the common language of Be Safe, Be Respectful, and Be Responsible as we teach behavior expectations around our school. Click on any of the links to look at the specific expectations.
