Bearsted Primary Academy Newsletter

Dear Parents and Carers,

I will start my reflection of this module at the end by congratulating all of the pupils and staff on the delightful performances that entertained us all. I said at the time how, for many pupils, standing up and performing to an audience can be quite daunting. Yet all of the pupils played their part and I was particularly impressed by the way they conducted themselves whilst 'not' performing. Every performance was well attended and I want to thank you for all for your time and support, either as part of the audience or for helping with singing practise and organising costumes. All of this followed great excitement caused by the weather. A heavy downfall of snow meant the academy had to close and, whilst online learning continued, great fun was had exploring the 'white stuff'.

As we continue to grow, we are looking for ways to build connections with the wider community. During this module, we have collaborated with The Innovation Centre who nominated to fundraise for us and with Invicta Care Home. Both projects involved groups of pupils singing to the adults and was greatly enjoyed by all. Just a walk down the path can be very exciting. We have also had visits in the academy from a dentist and health care worker, both sharing very important and interesting facts to help pupils take good care of themselves. This module also saw us conclude our first Parent and Carer Curriculum Working Party. Thank you to those who volunteered and attended two meetings to share their thoughts on the RSE curriculum. The meetings were rigorous and extremly useful, helping us to consider how best to share supporting information and in what form. We will be holding more meetings in the coming modules.

A big thank you for you donations for our fund raising events, particularly the PTA who have arranged a disco and a wreath decorating competition (further details can be seen further in this newsletter). Currently, the PTA is quite small in numbers and would love for more of you to be involved, so they are inviting you to a coffee meeting on Thursday 12th January 2023, 2pm - 3pm. Please come along to say hello and find out how you might be able to get involved.

Just a reminder that pupils return on Thursday 5th January 2023. We look forward to seeing again but until then...

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas period

and a joyous welcome to the New Year.
