Year Two

Rochester & Upnor Class

Year 2 have had an excellent start to the year and Module 1 has seen them fully immersing themselves into our central idea. We have explored and developed our knowledge of our feelings and how this can impact our health and our learning. In dance, we have learnt how we can express ourselves through movement and we have collaborated with 'The Royal Opera House' to choreograph and perform a sequence to 'Alice in Wonderland'. We have also looked at ways to express our feelings through art, using different mediums to evoke specific feelings within the audience. The children were then prompted to think about how to look after their bodies, as this can also impact how they feel both physically and emotionally. We learnt about the basic needs of humans and animals, life cycles, eating a balanced diet, being active and how to prevent illness. We investigated how different exercises can make our heart rate increase and how using soap and water is the most effective way of washing our hands to prevent germs from spreading (ask them about the glitter!)

We wish you all a happy and restful half term and we are looking forward to the exciting learning opportunities that Module 2 will hold.
