Our new reading series is called Wonders

1ST GRADE READING HOMEWORK INFORMATION

We have implemented a new reading series this year and the first grade team has created a “reading homework packet”. Our reading series follows a 5 day reading cycle, which means “Day 1” can fall on any day of the week. Reading packets will be distributed every Day 1 and must be returned on Day 5. 

The 1st page in the packet is an overview of what we will be learning in that upcoming reading cycle- please refer to this sheet often!

Our homework cycle is listed below:

Day 1 - Write spelling words 5 times each. 

Day 2- Answer the “essential question”.  The essential question is found on the 1st page.

Day 3- Mixed review worksheet (crossword puzzle, high frequency word practice, vocabulary practice).

Day 4- Review of ALL skills worksheet. This change is made starting Unit 5!

Day 5 - NO HOMEWORK - TEST DAY *The packet is to be returned on this day and the due date will be listed on teacher website*

*This homework packet will begin for Unit 1 - the first 3 weeks is called “smart start” and we will be easing into our new series by sending home extra practice!*
