Dear BHS Learning Community,

Welcome to my website, which is all about celebrating me and my learning communities. My name is Chloe Schroeder. I am 10 years old and in Year 6 at Beacon Hill Primary School, in Kowloon Tong, Hong Kong. This term I am joining all the other Year 6 students in creating a website, also known as my Primary Years Program Exhibition. I hope you are interested in what I have to share. My favourite thing in the whole world is animals. I really want a pet but do not have one right now. I live with my mom and dad, 2 brothers and a helper. I am from America and moved to Hong Kong when I was three years old.

I am really proud of the fact that this year in Year 6, I attempted to become house captain. Although I did not make it, it meant alot to me to create a speech, speak in front of everyone and try my best. Normally I don't like making speeches. Another activity I am proud of is when I went to Year 6 camp, Outward Bound, for a whole week. I am proud because I stepped out of my comfort zone. I managed to do this because I found my courage and was able to accomplish the challenge. This year, I enjoyed my science unit when I got to do an experiment and be independent. I did not enjoy my civilization unit in the beginning because it was really boring, however, I did enjoy sharing my understanding in the final report which was a special type of speech called a TED talk and I found it quite fun.

I am a little bit worried about settling into secondary school. After all, it is a huge change and I am not sure that I will get used to it right away. One thing I don’t want to happen is to fall behind or get bad grades. I am really looking forward to the new subjects, such as learning more history and science. These are some of the lessons that I haven’t been taught yet. I would also like to get involved with a variety of after school classes, such as rugby, and a book club.

I hope that you enjoy this site, as I have put a lot of effort into it to share who I am as a person and as a learner. I hope that I can display to you that I am an independent and hardworking learner! I look forward to meeting you and getting to know you too. I would like to thank my parents, teachers and friends for supporting me in my journey so far.

Kind Regards,
