All beginning orchestra students receive the following supplies with their first instrument. Should you need a replacement, here are the specifics. (Shoulder rests will likely need to be replaced if the feet break, or if the student goes up more than one size instrument).
Do you know which size instrument your child needs? This is a VERY IMPORTANT piece of information! Their orchestra teacher or the music store (in person) can size your student.
Rosin:
Any basic Violin/Violin/Cello rosin is fine for this level.
Is your child allergic to tree sap? Ask about hypoallergenic options.
Shoulder rest for violin/viola:
Everest or similar (such as Kun). Check the size to be sure it will fit your child's instrument (ask the teacher if you're uncertain). Any color is fine!
Xeros endpin strap for cellos.
The "donut" style gets dusty on our tile floor and doesn't work well after a few weeks.
