Ms. Smith studied Elementary and Special Education at University of North Carolina at Pembroke and Theatre Arts at Campbell University. This is her 19th year of teaching in North Carolina Public Schools and her first year of teaching at TCMS. As an E.C. General Curriculum Teacher, Ms. Smith co-teaches 7th Grade Reading and Math. Students are also taught reading skills during HOWL by Ms. Smith. She also works at Town Creek Elementary as a Resource Teacher for Grades K-5. Ms. Smith previously taught grades K-12. Prior to working in North Carolina Public Schools, Ms. Smith worked at Carolina Institute for Developmental Disabilities at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill as a project coordinator for Acting for Advocacy, AmeriCorps Mentor in Public Schools of Robeson County in conjunction with Vocational Rehabilitation Center, and North Carolina Youth Delegate & Presenter for Administration on Developmental Disabilities, 2005.
