I am a Southport native with 24 years of experience in the classroom, I have had the pleasure of teaching all elementary grades except for Kindergarten. My teaching career has taken me through public schools, charter schools, and even an online charter school in three different states, providing me with a diverse and rich background in education. I am so excited to be back in my old elementary school teaching Second Grade!!!

Hi families! I am a Southport Elementary alumni and so excited to be teaching where I attended elementary school. Your children will become part of my family and a forever student of mine. Together, we will embark on an exciting journey of learning and growth.  You will find out quickly that I have very high expectations academically and behaviorally of my students, but that I also like to have lots of fun! I am looking forward to a great school year :) 

Hello! My name is Mrs. Ramsey and I will be your child’s second grade teacher this year. I have been teaching for 16 years. I am married and have two adult sons, plus a fur baby. My fur baby is 13 years old and still lives at home. I am very excited to get to know everyone and make this the best school year yet! My philosophy is based in trying and growth, not in perfection.

This is my 8th year at Southport Elementary School, my 10th year in 2nd grade and my 12th year teaching overall. I graduated from East Carolina University where I was a part of the North Carolina Teaching Fellows Program. I love learning something new and I want my students to love it, too. It is going to be a great year!
