Welcome to Public Safety

Hi! I'm Greg Jordan, your instructor for Public Safety and Law & Justice.

Before I traded my badge for a whiteboard marker and powerpoints, I spent over 30 years in law enforcement. These days, instead of chasing bad guys, I chase down late assignments (with slightly less paperwork).

In Public Safety, we'll explore many sides — including law enforcement, fire and EMS, emergency management, dispatch, security, corrections, and the legal system. Think of it as a behind-the-scenes tour of the people who keep our communities running...without requiring you to ride in the back of a patrol car

In Law and Justice, we'll dive into the world of law enforcement, criminal justice, and security. We'll explore how police officers, detectives, crime scene investigators, dispatchers, corrections professionals, private security, and the courts work together to keep our communities safe. You'll get a behind-the-scenes look at how the criminal justice system really works—not just how Hollywood says it works. Spoiler alert: paperwork is a lot more common than high-speed chases, and most detectives don't solve every case before the last commercial break. We'll examine real-world situations, learn how investigations unfold, and discover the many career opportunities in this field. Whether you're thinking about wearing a badge, protecting people and property, or just want to know what actually happens after someone says, "You have the right to remain silent," this class is for you. 

Whether you're planning to continue your education, join the military, head straight into the workforce, or you're still figuring it all out, I hope one of my classes helps you discover a career that excites you. All careers in Public Safety offer more opportunities than most people realize, and we'll explore them together.
