Ms. Garsson received her B.M and M.A. with an emphasis in Choral Music Education from Christopher Newport University. She did two European Tours, one to Italy and the other to Belgium/Germany/France with her college choir and sang in some of the most renowned cities/cathedrals. Guest conductors of her choir have included Rene Clausen and Eric Whitacre. She was one of the featured soloists for the 2010-2011 Choral Season
Ms. Garsson taught middle school choir for 11 years in Hampton, Williamsburg, and Franklin school districts in Virginia and in Issaquah, Washington. In addition to her choral conducting experience, she has helped her students prepare and audition for the annual WMEA Solo and Ensemble Contest, All State Choir, and Large Group Festivals. She had the honor of taking her 8th grade choir to perform at Disneyland 5 years in a row! A driven and motivated educator, Ms. Garsson completed her National Board Certification in secondary Choral Music Education in 2017 and she was awarded the Golden Apple Educator Award for excellence in leadership and teaching in 2018 and 2023.
A classically trained soprano, Ms. Garsson was a featured soloist with the Seattle based women's choir, Ancora from 2017-2018.
She is comfortable teaching all styles and levels of voice, including classical, musical theater, jazz, punk rock, indie, pop, etc. and looks forward to serving the choir community at NBHS!
