In 3rd grade social studies, we will explore a wide range of topics that help us understand our community, state, and the world around us, including:
Economic Decisions and Resources: Learning how economic choices and resources impact the local economy, and exploring the role of entrepreneurs and the concepts of supply and demand.
Government Structure and Function: Understanding the similarities and differences between state, local, and tribal governments, and how they help solve community problems.
Geography and Development: Discovering how geography, climate, and physical features influence the development and movement of goods, people, and ideas in different regions.
Values and Beliefs: Examining how the values, beliefs, and cultures of various groups shape communities and influence their development.
People and Historical Events: Studying how the achievements of diverse groups and historical events have shaped local communities in North Carolina, using primary and secondary sources to explore different perspectives.
These topics will give us a deeper understanding of how our world works and the factors that shape our communities.
