2025-2026 Middle School Teacher of the Year

I had the honor of being named South Brunswick Middle School's 2025-2026 Teacher of the Year! I am excited to represent the SBMS teacher's and be their voice.

I also was named Brunswick County's 2025-2026 Middle School Teacher of the Year! I was surprised and honored to be recognized in this way.

What I love most about teaching are the relationships that I get to build with my students. I am grateful that I can share what I love with my students each day, as well as learn from them!

Meet Ms. Simpson

My name is Elizabeth Simpson and this will be my 8th year teaching at South Brunswick Middle School. I absolutely LOVE being part of the Cougar family and am really looking forward to a new year at SBMS!

I grew up in a small town in South Carolina. I graduated from Coastal Carolina University with a Bachelor's Degree in Studio Art and a minor in Art Education. I went on to graduate from Winthrop University with a Master's in Teaching.

My favorite things to do are play with my daughter, listen to podcasts, beach and binge my favorite shows! I love all kinds of adventures and love to try new things!

Digital Self Portraits

This is one of my favorite projects that I do with my 8th grade students, digital self portraits.

In 8th grade, students get to choose a picture of themselves that they love.

We used Google Draw to create these color blocking self-portraits.

We took some time to study self-portraits of famous artists and then we created our own!!
