Class overview

English I is designed to help incoming freshmen master the skills they will need to succeed as high school students and to begin forming the foundation of necessary skills for college and the world beyond secondary education.  Students will learn basic annotation skills, reading strategies, and writing techniques that will serve them throughout their experience here at West Brunswick.  As they strengthen their basic grammar knowledge, students will also become familiar with different writing formats, and the necessary skills for researching and applying MLA guidelines.  By the end of this course, freshmen will understand the essentials of analytical reading, writing, and research protocols used in English classes.
