• What is S.T.E.M. and S.T.E.A.M.?

  • S.T.E.M. is an acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math—a framework that encourages hands-on, inquiry-based learning in areas that are critical for future careers and problem-solving in the real world. When you add the A for Arts, S.T.E.M. becomes S.T.E.A.M., which values creativity, design, self-expression, and the human side of innovation. S.T.E.A.M. reminds us that imagination and critical thinking go hand in hand.

• Why I Choose S.T.E.A.M. as the preferred acronym:

  • I personally choose to use S.T.E.A.M. because it reflects my full story and my belief in the power of a well-rounded education. My own educational journey began in a high school choir room under the direction of Edward Norris, where I first discovered my love for learning. That passion led me to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Vocal Music, while also playing Division II collegiate lacrosse.

  • Through the arts, I developed creativity, confidence, and a voice. Through sports, I learned discipline, teamwork, and leadership. By coaching and mentoring young athletes, I realized just how much I love teaching. That led me to pursue my Master of Arts in Teaching, and I’ve been teaching ever since.

In our S.T.E.A.M. classroom, students will be immersed in collaborative learning experiences that encourage curiosity, creativity, and problem-solving. They’ll build meaningful relationships, learn to work as a team, and explore the worlds of science, technology, engineering, the arts, and math—all in one space.

This position brings together everything I love: the arts, athletics, teamwork, teaching, and the chance to inspire the next generation of creators and thinkers. I’m so excited to get started!
