What is Reading Horizons?
This year, our students will participate in Reading Horizons, a research-based literacy program designed to help children become confident, successful readers and writers. Reading Horizons uses a structured approach to teach the building blocks of reading, including letter-sound relationships, phonics patterns, decoding strategies, spelling, and vocabulary development.
Throughout the year, students will learn how to recognize and apply phonics skills to read unfamiliar words, improve their reading fluency, strengthen comprehension, and become more confident writers. Lessons are interactive, engaging, and designed to meet students where they are while building a strong foundation for future academic success.
By combining direct instruction, practice, and meaningful reading experiences, Reading Horizons helps students develop the skills they need to become independent, lifelong readers. We look forward to partnering with families to support each child's literacy growth throughout the school year.
