Course Description:
Students will be able to assess their own health status and understand the relationship of healthful living to their quality of life, develop an awareness of their own control in the areas of stress management, accept responsibility for the prevention of major health risks; demonstrate conflict resolution skills; understand concepts of fitness and wellness; accept responsibility for personal fitness; demonstrate a variety of skills needed for being active; and control behaviors in physical activity settings. Students should realize before leaving middle school that healthy behaviors are essential to their quality of life; fitness is a part of everyday life; behavior is accountable; and proper nutrition is essential.

Rules:
Be on Time
No cell phones/headphones in class.
Everyone participates, everyone learns.
Do not eat, drink, chew gum or litter in the gym or classroom.
No horseplay or profanity. Do not hang on basketball rims!
Report to your attendance seat after dressing out
No one is allowed in the locker rooms during class. Use your dress out time to use the restrooms, get water, etc.
PE procedures:
Students need to have athletic shorts (no jean shorts or khakis, etc.), a t-shirt (no button front shirts), socks, and athletic shoes that lace up (no sandals, boots, or slippers). Shorts & Shirts must abide by school policy!.
The student must dress out before a sick note will be accepted. **Activities will be adapted to meet individual needs, so expect to participate.
Students will have 5 mins at the beginning of class to dress out and 5 mins at the end of class to dress back in.
Leave no valuables unlocked in the locker rooms.You may bring a combination lock to use during your class period only.
Make up Work:
All assignments missed are the student’s responsibility to make up.
Students are strongly encouraged to make up any missed work that will affect their future assessments.
Tardy Policy:
Students must be in the locker rooms before the tardy bell rings, not in the hall.
A third tardy will be documented in the Educator Handbook
Dismissal
We dismiss the class, not the bell. Students will be dismissed by rows and will line up at the door.
Grades: 40% PE, 30% Projects/Test, 20% Classwork/Quizzes/Homework, 10% Assessments
