Unit Tests/Retests
Unit Tests/Retests
In our math class, each unit test covers multiple standards, and each standard is assigned its own individual grade in Infinite Campus. This grading method allows us to assess students’ understanding of specific concepts more accurately.
How Unit Test Grading Works:
Multiple Standards per Test: Each test is aligned with several standards that we’ve been working on in class. These standards are assessed individually, meaning that your child’s grade for the test is broken down by how well they perform on each specific standard.
Test Grades in Infinite Campus: After each test, you will see individual grades for each standard in Infinite Campus. This gives you and your child a more detailed picture of their strengths and areas that may need improvement.
Retesting Option:
We understand that sometimes students need a bit more time or additional support to fully grasp a concept. Therefore, students are given the opportunity to retest on specific standards where they did not perform well on the original test.
How Retesting Works:
Google Form for Retesting: To retest a standard, students must first complete a Google Form for that specific standard. This form includes:
A video explanation that goes over the questions from the test and reviews the key concepts for that standard.
Practice problems to help reinforce understanding.
Standard-Specific Retesting: Students may only retest the standards they select on the Google Form. This ensures that they are focused on the areas where they need improvement.
One Retest per Standard: Students may retest each standard only once. The goal is to encourage them to review the material thoroughly before attempting a retest.
Why This Process?
This system helps encourage mastery of the material, allowing students to improve their understanding at their own pace. It also ensures that they have all the necessary resources to succeed when retaking a standard.
We hope this process helps your child achieve the best possible understanding of the content. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to reach out!
