Earth and Environmental science focuses on the function and structure of Earth’s systems, and interactions within the environment and their impact on the structure and function of the Earth.
Restroom and water breaks: Students are permitted to take one break during class to use the facilities. To do so, logon to PASS. Fill in the required information and when you have the green screen, you may raise your hand/ quietly get my attention, show me the screen. I will then let you know if you may go or if you need to wait a few minutes. Remember to start the timer when you leave the classroom, and stop the timer when you return.
You are required to carry the yellow lanyard with you when you leave the classroom
Please no beverages that are in an open container like a can or cup (other than the school water cups), beverages must be in a closed, spill-proof container.
No cell phones allowed during instructional time. Please note that Brunswick County Board policy 4311 explains that cell phones are not allowed during instructional time. If I see you using your cell phone, I will take it and turn it into the front office, and you will not be able to collect it until the end of the school day.
Due to this policy, you will be required to turn in your phone to the phone holder at the front of the classroom.
Be respectful of others. This includes your teacher and classmates. It is the expectation that you will speak kindly to everyone in the classroom. If there is an issue between you and another student or the teacher, speak to a trusted adult at school and they can help you manage the situation.
20% Classwork
This will include assignments to help you understand each standard and help prepare you for the summative assessments.
30% Labs/Quizzes
This will include assignments to assess the progress of your learning during a unit.
50% Tests/Projects
This will include large assignments like Tests and projects, which are designed to show your mastery at the end of each unit.
Late Work Policy
If an assignment is not turned in, it will be counted as a “0” in powerschool. You will have the opportunity to still complete the assignment. However, 10% will be deducted from the grade for each day it is late.
Most of your assignments will be located in Google classroom. Please make sure to join the class, I will provide the code to you.
I will use Google classroom to post announcements and assignments regularly. Be sure to check it regularly.
Every Monday, I will post the “weekly overview.” These posts will inform you on everything that we will be doing in class for that week, and it will include important dates.
