Reading - Wit & Wisdom 

Module 1 - In Module 1, students explore the essential question: What does it mean to have a great heart? They study both the literal heart—learning about how this important organ works in the human body—and the figurative great heart through stories and poems that highlight empathy, courage, and perseverance. Texts such as Love That Dog and selected poetry encourage students to think deeply, make connections, and express their ideas through writing and discussion. This module builds knowledge in both literature and science while helping students grow as readers, writers, and critical thinkers. 

Math - IReady Mathematics

In Unit 1, students build a strong foundation in place value and number sense. They learn how to read, write, compare, and round multi-digit whole numbers up to the millions. Students also practice adding and subtracting large numbers with accuracy and efficiency, while applying these skills to solve real-world word problems. This unit helps students develop strategies for working with big numbers and prepares them for more advanced operations and problem-solving throughout the year.
