THE PAXTON PATTERSON Lab Curriculum Supports the Following Objectives:

During this course, students will have the opportunity to experience what it is like to work in careers within a variety of areas.  Students will do specific work tasks that professionals perform in the field.  These experiences help students discover what they like and what they do not like, so they can make informed career pathway decisions heading into high school and possibly beyond.  Students will be able to explore 3-4 different modules (labs) during the semester and conduct in-depth research into 2 careers within each module.  Students will discover the knowledge, skills and abilities that are required for specific jobs, experience what it is like to do some of the work involved and discover if they have an interest in that career area.

Course Goals & Objectives:

By the completion of this course, the student will be able to introduce the career development process including self-awareness, career awareness, career exploration, career preparation, career satisfaction and transition.

Course Assessment Guidelines:

Students will complete a variety of daily work assignments along with tests and module (lab) artifacts.

 

Labs Offered at Cedar Grove Middle School

Grades:  Grades will be given based on completion and proficiency on all assignments, quizzes, and tests, as well as participation.  A 100%-90%, B 89%-80%, C 79%-70%, D 69%-60%, F 59%-50%.
