ABOUT ME

Hello, and welcome! My name is Jerry Spencer, and I am very excited to be teaching at Leland Middle School. I arrived in Wilmington in 2007 with my wife and three sons, and have loved it ever since.  I grew up in upstate New York, in the Adirondack Mountains, and after graduating from LeMoyne College, Syracuse, with a Bachelor of Science in Business, I traveled for my job in Marketing, moving from the East Coast to the West Coast and back. What brought me to Wilmington was my pursuit of a teaching career, and the Watson School of Education at UNCW, which helped me achieve this dream.   I have been rewarded with over 17 years of teaching American History, World History, and English Language Arts, working for NHCS and BCS.   I enjoy spending quality time with family and friends.  Some of my interests are swimming, working out at the gym, reading books, chairing a history club, and listening to music.  I also am a sports enthusiast and enjoy following my teams throughout the year.  I look forward to having a successful year and sharing my enthusiasm for teaching.
