What is Title 1?

Title 1 is a federally funded program designed to provide extra support, build confidence, and help students improve their reading skills. Our Reading Specialists work directly with students in small groups of 6-8 students on individualized interventions during the school day. Memorial's Reading Specialists also plan and host the Fall & Spring Family Nights for the entire school community, and create and run the "One School, One Book" program that our school participates in each year!

Meet the Teachers

Ms. Mason

I am very excited to be one of Memorial’s Reading Specialists this year! This is my 18th year of teaching in Brunswick. I taught kindergarten at Towslee for 11 years before requesting to be a Reading Specialist there, and I have been in that role ever since! I'm looking forward to sharing my love for literacy at Memorial Elementary this year!

I graduated from Ashland University, where I also played on the Women’s Basketball team. (Go Eagles!) I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, a K-12 Reading Endorsement, and a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration from AU.

I am so excited to be one of Memorial’s Reading Specialists this year! This is my 24th year of teaching and my 29th year in education. I have taught kindergarten for the last 13 years and prior to that I was a first and second grade teacher. I am passionate about literacy and helping all students become successful readers. I love sharing ideas and strategies that are easy to implement at home. I am looking forward to working with Ms. Mason and our Memorial Elementary students this year!
