Behavior Management is extremely important in my classroom. Students need to know classroom expectations in order to follow the rules to the best of their ability. Outlined below are the classroom rules and the classroom management plans that are implemented and followed daily with the students.
Behavior Plan
Students will have the opportunity to always improve they day they are having. They will all start on “Ready To Learn”. They can either move up or down based on the decisions they make throughout the day. If the student earns a "Ready to Learn," "Good Choices," "Great Job," or "Outstanding," they will receive $5 (play money) at the end of the day. If the student earns an “Outstanding Day," they will receive the Oscar award and have the trophy on their desk the entire next day. Students will also be able to pick a reward the next day from the award tickets!
If a student receives a “Think About it,” they will stay in for the first five minutes of recess and write why they made that choice. Students will stay in for half of recess if they receive "Teacher’s Choice." If a student moves to Parent Contact, they will lose their entire recess and I will contact you. If a student does not have their homework they will move their behavior clip down and complete the homework during recess. They will go out to recess once their homework is complete. For every time a student moves his/her clip down they owe $5 (play money) to the fine box.
Students will also participate in Classroom Economy. Classroom Economy gives each child a job and the receive play money at the end of the week if they complete their job. The students will also learn how to keep a bank log to learn how to track their earnings/savings. Students will pay rent for their desks and rent supplies on a monthly basis. If they do not have enough money for their desk they will not be able to use their desk until they can pay for it (just like an apartment or house).
Mystery Walker
Every time our class walks in the hallway the actress( line Leader) will choose a mystery walker. The students will never know who will be selected. Their actions will be observed in the hallway and if they exhibit good behavior, the entire the class will earn a star. For every 5 stars, the class will earn a letter for a word. The word will spell out the party we will have as a reward (donuts, bring a stuffed animal to school, electronic day, etc.) Students will vote on the type of party they want.
