HOW TO BECOME A THESPIAN

What is a Thespian?

A “Thespian” is an honors distinction awarded to theatre students who have put in a significant amount of work on theatrical productions here at the high school.  Students earn Thespian Points for each show they work on.  Points are awarded based on your role (onstage or backstage) and time/effort spent working on each show.  Thespians are noted in show programs with an asterisk next to their name.

To become a Thespian, the following requirements must be met:

  • Earn ten points

  • Participate in at least 3 productions (acting, crew, or both)

  • Be in good standing with the theatre department

    • No behavioral issues

    • Fulfills all responsibilities of your production roles (ie: having all lines memorized as an actor, attending all tech week rehearsals as a crew member, etc.)

"I regard the theater as the greatest of all art forms, the most immediate way in which a human being can share with another the sense of what it is to be a human being."

- Oscar Wilde
