Tyson Hamrick

Welcome! My name is Tyson Hamrick. I have been teaching since 1994 and have been at Owen High School since 2016. Prior to that I taught at Owen Middle School, Enka Middle School, and Mullins High School (SC).

I graduated from Mars Hill College (University) in 1994. Although I did not attend Buncombe County Schools, I got here as fast as I could!

I was voted Teacher of the Year at Enka Middle School in 1999-2000 and at Owen Middle School in 2010-2011 where I was also the Owen District Teacher of the Year. In 2022 I was honored by by colleagues in the Western District by being named their Award of Excellence recipient.

My wife attended Owen High School, as did both of my children, and I have always lived "in the Valley" since moving back to Buncombe County in 1995. I worked at Owen Manufacturing from 1991-1994 so I feel a real connection to the Valley and to Valley history. I'm glad to be a Warhorse and part of the "Pride of the Valley".

We use Canvas for all of our classes except for 5th Block Marching Band where we use Google Classroom.
