How to "dive deep into a text".
Learning that when we read, we do more than just say the words on the page and the basic story telling elements like setting, character, & plot. We read for word meaning, we make inferences about characters, and we uncover the deeper meaning beyond each word.

Weekly Homework
Your child will always have this homework unless other information is shared.
Math & Science Homework: Students are expected to complete a weekly math and science spiral review for homework. They will receive the homework on Monday and must have it completed and ready to turn in by Friday morning. We will check it and discuss difficult problems on Friday. It is their choice of how they want to complete it during the week- all on one night, a little each day, etc.
Please have your child do the best they can on the HW usually this is a review of things they know and the newer content we will cover that week. They should be able to complete the work independently or with minimal guidance. Students are also encouraged to bring their math journals home for help and to ask me questions the next morning if they do not understand.
ELA Homework: Read for 30 minutes each night.
Reading logs will be sent home on 8/31/26.. These logs will be spot checked once per week.
A family representative must sign the log each night.
Nightly reading is meant to prepare students to advertise a book of their choice to their classmates. This project presentation will be held every 7 weeks.
Book projects will consist of three parts. Students may choose within each section. Technology pieces may be chosen but do not have to be.
Parents may support by ensuring their child reads, signing logs, assisting with project materials needed.
