at Koontz Intermediate School

July 28 - August 1

A week of fun and learning on your instrument for

beginning through advanced violin, viola, cello, and bass students.

Orchestra Ensemble Practices, Beginner Camp for rising 6th graders, Chamber Groups, Fiddling, Camp T Shirt, Performances by Local Musicians, Sectional Rehearsals, and Fun Social Time every day!!!

Camp hours are 8:30 - 3:30 each day with drop-off starting at 8:00 am

Finale student performance on Friday at 2:30

Cost is $120 if payment is postmarked by June 15th

and $140 if postmarked after June 15th.

Middle School Orchestra and Fiddle Coach

Amanda Tant is the orchestra director at Hendersonville Middle and Hendersonville High Schools and the Asheville Symphony Youth Orchestra Sinfonia Ensemble. Ms. Tant’s students receive consistent excellent and superior ratings at state and local competitions. Her students also regularly audition for and participate in Junior and Senior Western Regional Orchestra and NC All State Orchestra. Ms. Tant holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education from Appalachian State University. Ms. Tant has also completed a year of graduate courses in Viola Performance, and performing in an endowed graduate chamber ensemble, the Hayes Quartet.

High School Orchestra and Chamber Coach

Teodora Peeva was born in Sofia, Bulgaria where she began her musical studies at the National Music High School. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in viola performance from the University of California, Santa Cruz, as well a Master and Doctorate degrees from Louisiana State University. Ms. Peeva has participated in many solo and chamber music master classes and has been a member of the Baton Rouge Symphony, the Louisiana Sinfonietta, and a frequent sub with Acadiana Symphony in Lafayette. Dr. Peeva currently teaches string orchestra classes in the Reynolds District and at Nesbitt Discovery Academy and private violin and viola lessons at the Academy for the Arts In Asheville.

Instrumental Coaches

Our instrumental and chamber coaches are professional orchestra and chamber musicians and educators from the WNC area. Our staff helps create a fun, nurturing, and musical experience for our campers. This year's staff will include Kara Poorbaugh - viola and chamber music, Ben Sharp - cello and and chamber coach, Elizabeth Terry - beginner camp and admin, Matt Kinne - chamber music, Alexis Rubianes - chamber music, Lee Metcalf - Bass coach and more!
