Welcome to First Grade!

My name is Sheila Zavaglia, and I'm so happy to be your child's teacher this year! This will be my 16th year teaching and my 8th year teaching first grade ~ my absolute favorite! I feel so blessed to spend each day with joy-filled, energetic children who are just so eager to learn!

I earned my Bachelor's of Science degree in Elementary Education from Appalachian University and my Master's of Arts degree in Elementary Education from Western Carolina University. I'm also certified to teach K-12 Reading. 

My husband, Joe, and I just celebrated our 29th wedding anniversary, and we've been blessed with three amazing children! Lauren and Jonathan are both graduates of NCSU, and Andrew is a senior at EHS. I also have a daughter in love, Jeannie. She and Jonathan celebrated their first wedding anniversary this summer!

When I'm not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my family. We love to travel, and we're always looking forward to our next outdoor adventure ~ hiking, water skiing, snow skiing, and more! I enjoy morning and evening walks, especially when I can catch a sunrise or sunset, as well as reading and baking. 

I'm excited for another wonderful year in first grade!
