Shannon LaBrecque

Hello Families! I'm so glad you're here! Welcome! I've been teaching here at Johnston since 2020,  with Buncombe County schools since 2013, and a teacher since 2005. I'll be your child's 4th grade math and science teacher. I'm so excited to share this school year with you! 

Education and learning have always been my guiding passions. I was the big sister that always liked to play school and make sure my little brothers did their homework. Being a teacher was always in the plans. I completed my undergraduate and graduate degree in Education and School Administration, at the University of Redlands in Southern California.  I've held various roles in the education over the years, but my heart is in math and science instruction. 

The Erwin community is my home. We have all 5 generations here in WNC. My husband and I have 4 daughters and 7 grandchildren. I can't imagine living any other place. I love gardening, cooking, and hiking.  In the picture above, I'm standing next to a mural my niece painted on my fence in the backyard. When I'm not at school you can find me digging in the dirt in the backyard, planting, collecting eggs and feeding my chickens!
