Ms. Oren

My name is Rebecca Oren and I’m excited to be your child’s teacher. I graduated Magna Cum Laude from Appalachian State University in the Spring of 2007 and taught for 12 years at Black Mountain Elementary and Black Mountain Primary School. This is my second year at Oakley!

I believe children learn best by doing. I believe children learn best in a positive, safe, encouraging and structured learning environment. My goal is to help children realize and lean into their strengths. It is also my job to help children progress through areas of weakness.

Nothing has changed my philosophy of teaching as much as when I became a mother. I want to be the kind of teacher for your child that I would want for my child. I promise to be equitable, loving, encouraging, consistent, inviting, strong and kind.

When I’m not teaching I am usually spending time with my 7 year old daughter, Ada. We love hiking, playgrounds, singing, playing dress-up and making all kinds of messes. I also enjoy gardening, playing games with friends, singing and dancing. I can’t wait to get to know you and your child.
