Rachel Brillisour

I am the media specialist at North Windy Ridge. I came to NWR in 2004 when I became a school media specialist. Prior to this I was a 4th grade teacher for Haywood County Schools.

I studied elementary education at Western Carolina University and received my Masters in Library and Information Studies from the University of North Carolina Greensboro.

I love working in the media center. I get to talk to kids daily about great books. Some of my favorite middle grade books include The Wizard of Oz, Fablehaven, Gregor the Overlander, Three Times Lucky, Where the Mountain Meets the Moon, and the list goes on.

In the media center I have a flexible schedule where classes sign-up to work on research and technology projects with me. Classes also visit the library weekly for book checkout. Students can check out up to five books at a time and keep them for two weeks. Overdue notices are emailed to students automatically on Mondays.
