Phillip Haynie, Choral Director

Mr. Haynie has been the choral director at ACR since 2012.   Phillip Haynie hails from Black Mountain, NC where he graduated from Charles D. Owen High School in 1998.  He then went to Lee University to study music where he was involved with and held leadership positions with the Lee University Singers, The University Chorale, Opera Workshop, Choral Union and the Chamber Orchestra.  Mr. Haynie was the first to graduate from the Bachelor of Music in Music Vocal Performance in 2003.  Mr. Haynie then entered the graduate music program at Lee and his assistantship as the assistant conductor to the University Chorale.  Phillip graduated in the inaugural class for the Masters of Music in Music Performance degree program with a concentration in choral conducting.

As a professional performer, Mr. Haynie has sung both as a chorister and soloist with ensembles such as the Chattanooga Choral Arts Society, the Carolina Concert Choir, the Asheville Choral Society, Spire Chamber Ensemble, the Tennessee Chamber Chorus, the Santa Fe Desert Chorale, the Asheville Lyric Opera, and the Asheville Symphony Chorus.

I am honored, humbled and very excited to be a part of the AC Reynolds community.  I hope to maintain long held traditions with this fine choral program while also creating new traditions as the program continues to grow.  My hope for every student who comes through my classroom is that they will find ways to keep music in their lives not only while in my class or ensembles, but for the rest of their lives.  I utilize Google Classroom, Remind and Sightreadingfactory to communicate and supply some materials.
