I am excited to be teaching AP Environmental Science for the third year in addition to Honors Biology and Honors Earth and Environmental Science this year at Nesbitt Discovery Academy! It is my hope that you will not only love learning science but become a scientist in my classroom! We are going to have a great year!
My background:
Born in New York, raised in Florida and thrilled to be living in beautiful Asheville for the past 19 years
Bachelor of Science in Biology (with a minor in education) at the University of Florida
Master of Education in Secondary Science Education at the University of Florida
Science teacher for 14 years, at NDA for 5
Club advisor for Science Olympiad (competition in early Spring), Pollinator Club, Environmental Club, Science Research Club (new and upcoming!)
Supplies needed for my classes:
Honors Biology and Honors Earth/Env Science
charged computer (bring charger as well)
8 1/2 x 11 notebook--preferably a science lab notebook (links here (bullet format instead of grid) here and here and here (these three are grid format) on Amazon 2-day delivery) or a GRID composition notebook (large size) from Walmart or Target, 100 pages or more are needed (do not buy a 70 or 80 page notebook, you WILL run out of room)
pens, pencils, highlighter, small pack of colored pencils
(optional-phone to use for stopwatch, photos, magnifier and calculator, ruler, post it notes, scotch tape)
AP Environmental Science
3 ring binder (1 1/2" or larger), 2 packs of dividers (5 pack), need 10 total dividers
lined paper, graph paper
pens, pencils, highlighters
colored pencils (12 pack is fine)
calculator to use in class and on test, can ONLY use non-phone calculator for tests, simple or scientific calculators are fine
optional resources: Biozone AP Env Science workbook (super helpful when studying and for completing focus sheets), AP Prep/Review Guide for APES (note: used options are much cheaper!)
(optional-phone, post it notes, ruler, unlined paper, white card stock for focus sheets, note cards)
various items will be needed as we progress through the semester (ex: large, square water bottles to make ecocolumns)
