Ms. Diane Bridges

I became an educator while living in the Bronx, New York, where I was born and raised. During school breaks, I often vacationed in the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina, and in 2011, I made this wonderful community my home.

I graduated from John Jay College of Criminal Justice with a bachelor's degree in Security Management. Before beginning my teaching career, I worked with the New York City Police Department Cadet Corps and later served as a Volunteer Police Officer with one of our local police departments. Today, I continue to serve my community as a volunteer Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) with a local fire department.

After earning my bachelor's degree, I completed my Master of Science in Education (M.S.Ed.) at Lehman College. I also participated in Lucy Calkins' Teachers College Reading and Writing Project at Columbia University for four years. Throughout my career, I have taught students in first through fifth grades and have also served as an Adjunct Reading Specialist at Lehman College, working with students in grades 7–12.

When I'm not at school, I enjoy spending time with my adult children, playing with my big old pups, cooking, and exploring new places. I am excited to be part of the Fairview Elementary family and look forward to a fun-filled and successful year of learning together!
