Ms. Tristen Plemmons

"Write to be understood, speak to be heard, read to grow." - Lawrence Clark Powell

I am a National Board certified English/Language Arts teacher for grades 7-12 and have a bachelor of arts degree in literature from UNC-Asheville. I have been teaching at TC Roberson since 2007 and have also taught at Enka and Brevard High.

I began teaching because of my love for children and reading as well as my belief in the importance of education. My goal is for students to leave my classroom with the realization that they have grown as an individual and better prepare them for the world as adults. To achieve this, we will read, write, speak, listen, and think every day. As an educator, I believe that my job is to help students enjoy the process of learning new skills and content. I promote a respectful, family-like atmosphere in my classroom and allow students opportunities for choice, including choice reading novels.

I use blended learning strategies, utilizing books, paper and pencil as well as online resources. Students will need a notebook and their charged computers every day. My LMS is Google Classroom and I tap into other valuable online resources such as commonlit.org and newsela.com. I will send a class protocol home with students on the first day of class that provides details regarding classroom expectations and core reading materials for our curriculum.

I look forward to getting to know you throughout our semester together.
