Students used modeling clay to create a topographic map of North Carolina. We then painted each region.

Students visited Emerald Village. They were able to mine for gems and visit an abandoned mine.

RiverLink visited our school. Our class was able to manipulate a landscape to see the effects of erosion with and without the use of plants.

Fun Run! Students had a blast running to support their school.

Students started with 100 deer. They drew cards that had limiting factors that affected their deer population. After 20 turns we discussed how the deer population changed over time due to those limiting factors.

Students were given soil with "worms and beetles" (marbles and rubber bands). They experimented with different bird beaks (tweezers, clothespin, chopsticks, and spoons). The goal was to collect as much food as possible in one minute with each beak. We discussed how birds have adapted different beak styles to fit their environment.

Students perfromed a tableau. They chose a scene from Patricia Polacco's book The Bee Tree and silently posed to represent that scene.
