Personal Interests
I enjoy hiking, biking, swimming, gardening, baking, cooking, traveling aboard, and drinking crafted coffee.
Teaching History:
In 2010 I began teaching at Valley Springs Middle School. I taught math/social studies for several years, moved to Minnesota, returned with a new last name, and taught math/science/social studies until 2017 when our first born came along. In 2021 I returned to VSMS, and it has been wonderful being a RAM again.
Teaching Philosophy:
All students deserve to learn in a safe and nurturing environment while experiencing both challenges and successes. It is my goal to assist all students in my class to mature in academics, social-awareness, and self-awareness.
As an 8th grade teacher my overall goal will be to facilitate and guide the learning of middle schoolers into high school ready teenagers. This will be an amazing year of self-discovery and academic mastery.
I am here to aid the learning of an amazingly resilient group of young people in collaboration with parents/guardians and VSMS staff.
Education:
I attended Glen Arden, Avery's Creek, Valley Springs, and graduated from T.C. Roberson High School.
In college I obtained a Bachelor’s of Science in Math and Science Education from Appalachian State University
Licensure:
NC Teaching License in Math, Science, and Social Studies (Grades 6-9)
Classroom Programs:
I use Canvas to keep the students updated about current academic projects and materials.
