Matthew Raley

Hello Everyone!

• I began my teaching journey in 2013 at Waynesville Middle School and have worked in middle grades all of my career. I have spent time teaching Social Studies and Math, and I am really looking forward to teaching Science as well.

• I grew up in Columbia, South Carolina and attended Appalachian State University. I fell in love with the Blue Ridge Mountains and stuck around to get my Masters in Teaching at Western Carolina University.

• I love teaching because students teach me so much about life and the what is happening in the world. I consider myself as much of a learner as a teacher. The students that walk our halls are our future, and helping them prepare to move on in the world is truly an honor.

• This year we will be using Canvas to organize our classwork, and Remind as our communication tool to students' homes. We will work with a variety on technology based and manipulative tactile learning tools this year.
