A proud native of Western North Carolina, I attended Asheville High School and graduated from UNC Asheville with a degree in Biology. I began teaching with Buncombe County Schools in 2002 and have been fortunate to spend my career helping students discover that science can be both interesting and fun.
My goal is to create a classroom where every student feels welcome, respected, and ready to learn. I believe that positive relationships, wholesome humor, clear routines, and high expectations help students take risks, do their best work, and grow in confidence.
I also believe that supporting students is a team effort. Every student has their own strengths, needs, and goals, and I value partnering with parents to provide the support each student needs to succeed.
Most of all, I want my students to leave my classroom with a better understanding of science and a stronger belief in what they can accomplish.
Outside of school, I have two kids, two dogs, and more musical instruments than my wife thinks I need. When I’m not teaching, I enjoy making music, spending time outdoors, and being with my family.
