Mrs. Jordan

I consider myself extremely fortunate to be born and raised right here in East Asheville and graduate from Reynolds High School. After high school, I moved to the small mountain town of Boone, NC to get my elementary teaching degree from Appalachian State University. Being an educator, with the opportunity to give back to the community that raised me, is truly an honor. I have been at Bell Elementary since 2016 and have taught 4th grade since 2017. We departmentalize in the upper grades here at Bell, so I specialize in teaching our ELA curriculum, Wit & Wisdom, as well as science. Fourth grade is by far my favorite grade level. Every summer I find myself looking forward to the new conversations I will have with my upcoming students about what it means to have a great heart, or their favorite survival techniques from our study of the book Hatchet. This is a brilliant and explorative age and these students' love of learning brings me an immense amount of joy.

Outside of school I enjoy backpacking, reading, running, CrossFit, and the study of exercise physiology. I let my love for health and fitness bleed into my teaching because I believe a happy, healthy body is key to living a fulling life. Therefore, my teaching style is full of movement, hands-on activities, and as much integrated play as possible. We are here to learn, but true learning takes place in an environment where students feel safe to have fun, are valued, and are respected as young leaders of our community.
