Michelle Berry

Welcome to Fourth Grade!

I am delighted to be your child’s teacher this year. I’d like to start by providing you with a little introduction about myself so that you’ll know more about the teacher your child is entrusted to everyday!

My name is Michelle Berry. I am a graduate of Erwin High School, as well as Western Carolina University. I have a Bachelor’s and a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education. My teaching career began in 1994 in Haywood County at Meadowbrook Elementary. After six years there teaching first grade, I transferred to Leicester Elementary where I began teaching second grade. In 2003, I began teaching fourth grade and I’m still here thoroughly enjoying it! I also assist with the youth (6th-12th grade) at Newfound Baptist Church where I attend.

My husband Sonny (another Erwin graduate) and I have three children who seem to be growing faster than the speed of light! Christopher, Taylor, and Katelyn are all former Leicester Wildcats. Christopher is a senior at Appalachian State University, Taylor is a recent graduate of Nesbitt Discovery Academy and has answered a call from the Lord to pursue missionary work, and Katelyn is a sophomore at Erwin High. With three children at three different locations, I can totally relate to many of the stresses that you might feel associated with parenting!

My work at school, church, and time spent with my family keeps me pretty busy! If I find any "free time", I enjoy reading, writing, scrapbooking, playing with my cat (Grayson), catching up with friends, being outside, hiking, swimming, and weekend getaways if possible!

I am a very devoted teacher and I will do my best to make this year a fantastic experience for your child. As a young child, I knew that I wanted to be a teacher and I feel blessed to have the opportunity to work with children. I most certainly feel that teaching is a calling, and not just a job! It is my desire to enrich the life of your child over the course of our time together, not just to“educate” your child. I know that your child will make a mark on my heart, and I hope to do the same for your child!
