Welcome to Fourth Grade... and The Berry Patch!
My name is Michelle Berry. I am a graduate of Erwin High School, as well as Western Carolina University. I have a Bachelor’s and a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education. My teaching career began in 1994 in Haywood County at Meadowbrook Elementary. After six years there teaching first grade, I transferred to Leicester Elementary where I began teaching second grade. In 2003, I began teaching fourth grade and I’m still here thoroughly enjoying it!
My husband and I have three children who seem to have grown up faster than the speed of light! Christopher, Taylor, and Katelyn are all former Leicester Wildcats. Christopher is a graduate of Appalachian State University. Taylor recently married and she and her husband Tripp are continuing their education at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest. Katelyn is a brand new Catamount at Western Carolina University! With three children at three different locations, I can totally relate to many of the stresses that you might feel associated with parenting!
My work at school, church, and time spent with my family keeps me pretty busy! In my free time I enjoy being outside, going to the lake, hiking, finding and swimming in waterfalls, reading, journaling, and shopping. I also love "Caturdays" when I get to spend the most time with my cat, Grayson!
I am a very devoted teacher and I will do my best to make time in The Berry Patch a rewarding experience. As a young child, I knew that I wanted to be a teacher and I feel blessed to have the opportunity to work with children. I most certainly feel that teaching is a calling, and not just a job! It is my desire to enrich the life of children over the course of our time together, not just to educate them. Every child in The Berry Patch always makes a mark on my heart, and I hope to do the same for them!
