Weaverville Elementary Media Center

Weaverville Elementary Media Center

The media center is available to students during school hours. Students may exchange books at 7:30 -7:45 each morning or any time they have permission from their teachers to come to the media center.

Students have access to the online catalog at anytime using the following link:

https://search.follettsoftware.com/metasearch/ui/37525

The online catalog shows all the titles available in our media center and also gives access to the ebooks available in our media center.

Students also have access to ebooks through Sora. This app can be found by going through Clever. All studdents know how to access Clever. Once in Sora the student will have to choose Buncombe County Schools as their library. I also encourage them to add NC Kids Digital Library. These 2 libraries will give them access to thousands of ebooks for free.

Students have a scheduled weekly media class where students have an opportunity to check out books. They may keep the books as long as they need them. In addition to checking out books, the media specialist shares books with students to help them widen thier reading choices. During this scheduled time there is also a lesson taught that integrates a core curriculum concept with a book and or technology.

The media center supports students in learning digital learning standards. It also supports teachers in applying these standards in their classrooms. These standards help provide students with a digital-age education they need to be college, carreer and community ready.
