Email sent to parent emails (gathered from Infinite Campus) on 11/14 (updated to reflect a cut-off sentence)Good Afternoon Parents and Guardians,
I hope you’re doing well! This email is meant to do two things:
Share an update about grades
Make you aware of a recent pattern we’ve noticed in 7th grade
We’re now in the 2nd Quarter, and students have three weeks to complete any test corrections, make-ups or complete missing work.
Friday Assessment 7 - by 11/21
Friday Assessment 8 - by 11/21
Unit 2 Test -by 12/1
Accelerated Only: Menu Project - by 12/3
This time limit helps students take responsibility for their work and prevents them from waiting until the end of the quarter to fix grades.
Once any work is completed or the corrections are completed (in formative - mistake explained, new answer explained), they will submit the google form found on google classroom. This lets me know it is done.
If they need to make up a missing or incomplete test, they will need to find a time to complete it at school, with me, by the date it is due.
Important info:
No grades can be changed once the 3 week mark has passed.
Assessments typically can not be done at home, but test corrections can.
Please look for comments from me - Infinite Campus is easier to use comments to communicate than Power School was.
For a Unit Test grade to change, students need to complete test corrections as normal, then work through the extra practice depending on which questions they got wrong. After that is done, they can reassess. I am hoping this document will help.
2. Academic Integrity Concerns
Recently, our team has noticed an increase in students copying work, using AI, sharing answers or otherwise cheating. This is happening both with classwork and on assessments, across all subjects. Any student caught engaging in form of cheating is a violation of our honor code. It will result in a major referral and a contact home.
To address this, we’ve started using a monitoring program that allows us to see students’ computer screens and limit which tabs they can open. Since implementing this last Friday, some classes have seen a sharp drop in test scores, suggesting the issue may have been more widespread than we realized.
Check grades regularly with your student. If you need help accessing Infinite Campus, please reach out.
Talk with your student about the importance of academic integrity. Their grade should reflect what they truly know. If they’re struggling, we want to support them.
I’m available for extra help or for missing assessment completion:
After school one day a week (usually Monday or Tuesday)
During Community Nights
Occasionally during Discovery (Fridays, with teacher permission)
Students just need to schedule with me ahead of time.
Thank you for your continued support! We’re excited to see our 7th graders grow into responsible and capable learners.
Warmly,
Gillian Tart-Snyder
