Ms. Maggie Wheeless

Hello! My name is Maggie Wheeless. I am excited to start my first year as School Counselor at Weaverville Elementary. I grew up mostly in the Atlanta area.  I moved to the mountains for college.  I did both my undergraduate and graduate studies at Western Carolina University and have been in Asheville for the past 16 years.  

I started my School Counseling career at AC Reynolds High School here in Buncombe County. I later worked at Edneyville Elementary in Henderson County, and Isaac Dickson Elementary in Asheville City.  The past two years I was split between West Buncombe Elementary and North Buncombe Elementary Schools.  

I love getting to know students and I can't wait to get to know everyone here.  I love helping students learn skills that will help them succeed in life and supporting them along the way. I'm proud to be a Blackhawk!

When I'm not at work, my husband Ike and I love spending time outdoors with our dogs, Finn and Schmitty.  Skiing, biking, hiking, gardening, and canoeing are some of my favorite things to do.
