About me: I was born in New Jersey to Cuban parents. My grandparents were from The Canary Islands and Basque Country. I grew up in Miami where almost everyone spoke 2 languages and the food was amazing! I am most excited about exposing our students about the rich cultures around the world! At CCMS, I teach Exploratory Spanish, Spanish I and Conexiones.

Yo soy Sra. LaVoie, the Spanish teacher at CCMS. Our program has changed since adopting the dual language curriculum - Conexiones. This program caters to Spanish speakers being from one of the Dual Language schools in Buncombe County or native speakers where Spanish is a first language at home.
I attended Nova Southeastern University and graduated with a degree in Elementary Education in 2000.
