I went to high school at Queen Anne's County High School in Maryland. During my senior year of high school I did math tutoring as community service for National Honor Society. It was these experiences that helped me decide I wanted to teach.

I went to Kutztown University of Pennsylvania majoring in secondary education with a concentration in mathematics. I student taught in both a high school and a middle school. I enjoyed both experiences, but decided that high school was where I wanted to be.

I taught for a couple of year at Southern High School in Anne Arundel County in Maryland before I moved to North Carolina. I was a math teacher and softball coach.

In 1999, I moved to North Carolina and started teaching math at the Career Education Center. In 2010, I began working in my current position at North Buncombe High School.

Since I have been in North Carolina, I have gotten married and have two children, Heather and Ryan. My husband, Robert, works at North Windy Ridge.
