I am an Asheville native, a proud graduate of Buncombe County Schools, and I have been teaching in BCS since 1995. Over the years, I’ve served as a School Library Media Specialist and English teacher at A.C. Reynolds High School, Lead Media and Digital Learning Specialist for Buncombe County Schools, and School Library Media Specialist at Charles D. Owen High School. I’m currently the Secondary English Language Arts teacher for the Buncombe County Schools Virtual Academy.
I hold a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Master's Degree in Education, both from North Carolina State University, and I am Nationally Board Certified in English Language Arts. I have been a Mentor for the North Carolina Digital Leaders Coaching Network, a North Carolina Digital Learning Competencies Ambassador and Ignite Speaker, and a Google Certified Trainer.
Teaching runs in my family, and I’m happiest when I’m learning right alongside my students. I love reading and am especially fascinated by science, particularly space and microscopy, and I enjoy editing writing. One of my goals is to learn a second language and travel somewhere I can use it. I’m also currently trying to learn mah jong. Outside of school, I love spending time with my family and my cats.
